About This Course

Impromptu public speaking takes many forms — from delivering a speech to a group of people to reporting back on a project or explaining an idea in a meeting. Most people become at the prospect of speaking in public, and when it comes to impromptu speaking, everything seems more difficult. This course has been designed for anyone looking to improve their impromptu public speaking skills and leave the audience with a positive impression.

We start the course with an introduction to the different types of public speaking opportunities, and explain why this skill is important to excel in our personal and professional life. Then we share proven strategies and techniques to help you improve your ability to speak in all types of contexts - ranging from a professional gathering to a small group discussion. It will give you a better understanding of impromptu speaking topics and the tactics needed to make those topics interesting to the audience.

Like most other courses at BYLCx, this course uses a combination of video lecture, text summary, and quiz to help learners understand each concept perfectly before proceeding to the next. Whereas appropriate, the course provides template documents so that the learners can put their learnings into practice.

Fees and Scholarships

This course has a fee of 1500 taka. However, the first 1000 students who sign up for this course shall receive full scholarship. There is no separate application needed.

Almeer Ahsan Asif

Almeer is currently working as a Deputy Manager in Curriculum Development, and is also a leadership instructor at BYLC. His core responsibilities include developing and modifying the leadership content of BYLC’s existing and new programs. He is a graduate of the first Art and Practice of Leadership (APL) workshop of BYLC.

He completed the Executive Education on Art and Practice of Leadership Development, at Harvard Kennedy School in May 2017. The course was taught by Ronald Heifetz, based on whose books most of the adaptive leadership theories are practiced around the world.

He was nominated by the Government of Bangladesh on October 2016, to participate in a Study Visit in Australia organized by IIEP-UNESCO. Ministry level officials of 7 different countries participated in this visit. Prior to joining BYLC, he worked for Teach For Bangladesh, which is a global movement to end inequity in education. As a Fellow, he taught in a government primary school called Amtoli Staff Welfare GPS in Mohakhali, for 2 years. He catalyzed the transformation of 60 students in a limited resourced school, by improving their quality of education, and enabling them to work in leadership roles inside and outside of school. He is the co-founder of a program called Literacy Through Leadership, started in collaboration with IEEE AIUB SB and his wife, Maliha Ahsan. It enables university students to spend time teaching and improving the English literacy of the school students.

Almeer has completed his Masters of Education (MEd) in Educational Leadership & School Improvement from BRAC Institute of Educational Development with distinction. He did his Bachelor’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from American International University-Bangladesh. At AIUB, he acted as the Chairperson of IEEE AIUB Student branch. IEEE is a global platform for Engineering students. He received the ‘Chancellors Award for Leadership’ in the 14th Convocation of AIUB. He was also awarded ‘Certificate of Excellence’ for his O and A levels results.
